We do not wish to see your faces or hear your putrid statements.
The statements made by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian—affirming Iran’s support for any decision Palestinians might make, as well as its backing of Hamas Political Bureau chief Khalil al-Hayya—raise serious questions. This comes against the backdrop of a long history of Iranian interference in regional affairs—actions many believe have fueled conflicts and prolonged wars, with the Palestinian people, and the residents of Gaza in particular, paying the heaviest price.
The Palestinian cause is neither a tool for political propaganda nor a bargaining chip for expanding regional influence. Palestine is the cause of a people struggling for their freedom and dignity; Palestinians alone hold the right to determine their own destiny, free from any form of guardianship or exploitation.
With this in mind, we state clearly: enough exploitation of Palestine and its people. Anyone wishing to support the Palestinians should do so in a manner that safeguards their lives and rights, rather than through policies that inflame the region and compound the suffering of the innocent.
Jerusalem and Palestine are far too significant to be reduced to mere slogans raised to serve political or regional interests. Palestinians alone will remain the decision-makers regarding their own cause; slogans cannot grant them what only sincere actions can.
