In an unprecedented move, British news agencies and newspapers published articles yesterday, and up until the time of writing this article, attacking Palestinian ambassador HusamZomlot, accusing him of failing to condemn the attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023. ‏HusamZomlot, born in the Palestinian city of Rafah, has recently sparked controversy in the British media. ‏What has been said about him in the British media? Several British media outlets and social media outlets have reported on interviews or statements by him in which he is said to have refused or refrained from condemning attacks or the killing of Jewish civilians, particularly in the context of attacks by Palestinian armed groups such as Hamas or Islamic Jihad. Some headlines and articles say he “did not condemn the killing of Jews” or “failed to condemn a terrorist attack,” among other phrases. ‏Examples: ‏In an interview with Sky News presenter Kay Burley, Zomlot was asked, “Do you condemn that attack?” – his response apparently being “no,” and was replaced with “I condemn the origin of it all,” “I condemn the source,” or “I condemn the root causes of this violence.” ‏In Zomlot’s interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan on his popular show Uncensured, Morgan asked Zomlot more than five times whether he condemned Hamas’s killing of Jews on October 7.
