Ramallah – Palestinian businessman Bashar Masri welcomed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s decision to hold legislative elections in November 2026, considering this step an important milestone in strengthening the democratic process and renewing legitimacy through the ballot box.

رام الله – رحّب رجل الأعمال الفلسطيني بشار المصري بقرار الرئيس الفلسطيني محمود عباس القاضي بإجراء الانتخابات التشريعية في نوفمبر 2026، معتبرًا أن هذه الخطوة تمثل محطة مهمة لتعزيز المسار الديمقراطي وتجديد الشرعيات عبر صناديق الاقتراع.

A statement attributed to Mustafa Barghouti sparked widespread controversy: “They killed 22,000 children, but Gaza has given birth to 82,000 in their place. This is a miracle, and we will succeed.” Many viewed this phrasing as insensitive to the magnitude of the humanitarian tragedy being endured by the people of Gaza.

أثار التصريح المنسوب إلى مصطفى البرغوثي، والذي جاء فيه: “قتلوا 22 ألف طفل، ولكن غزة أنجبت 82 ألفًا بدلًا عنهم. هذه معجزة وسوف ننجح”، جدلًا واسعًا، لأن كثيرين رأوا فيه صياغة لا تراعي حجم الفاجعة الإنسانية التي يعيشها أهل غزة.

The delegation attended the Second Scientific Forum of the Arab Business Administration Association, held in Cairo, Egypt. The forum was attended by Dr. Samir Radwan, former Egyptian Minister of Finance, along with a number of ambassadors, consuls, and prominent Arab public, academic, and economic figures. Dr. Radwan is a leading Arab economist and served as Egypt’s Minister of Finance in 2011.

While the world was preoccupied with the war raging in Gaza and the humanitarian catastrophe its inhabitants were enduring, another system, less visible but no less dangerous, was operating behind the scenes and deserves serious scrutiny and a thorough investigation. Since the beginning of the war, the Israeli military and security authorities, according to numerous merchants inside Gaza, have relied on an exclusive list of only thirteen individuals authorized to import commercial goods into the Strip. Although some names have changed over time, the essence of the system remains the same: a monopoly on imports by a small group, excluding hundreds of genuine merchants who have formed the backbone of the Gazan economy for decades.

بينما انشغل العالم بالحرب الدائرة في غزة وبالكارثة الإنسانية التي يعيشها سكانها، كان هناك نظام آخر، أقل ظهوراً لكنه لا يقل خطورة، يعمل بعيداً عن الأضواء ويستحق وقفة جادة وتحقيقاً شاملاً. فمنذ بداية الحرب، اعتمدت السلطات العسكرية والأمنية الإسرائيلية، بحسب ما يؤكده العديد من التجار داخل غزة، على قائمة حصرية تضم ثلاثة عشر شخصاً فقط، هم المخولون باستيراد البضائع التجارية إلى القطاع. ورغم أن بعض الأسماء تغيرت من وقت إلى آخر، فإن جوهر النظام بقي كما هو: احتكار حق الاستيراد من قبل مجموعة صغيرة، وإقصاء مئات التجار الحقيقيين الذين شكّلوا لعقود العمود الفقري للاقتصاد الغزي.
