After the Murder of the Abu Wardeh Family: The Chaos of Weapons Must End

With the treacherous, unjust, and aggressive murder of the honorable members of the Abu Wardeh family, a painful truth is once again revealed: the continued proliferation of weapons outside the framework of the law threatens the social fabric of Palestine, opens the door to chaos, revenge, and retaliation, and makes the blood of our people vulnerable to further bloodshed.
What happened should serve as a true wake-up call and a catalyst for taking serious steps toward consolidating weapons under the control of a single national authority, separate from the multiplicity of factions, affiliations, armed groups, and families. A safe and stable society cannot be built amidst multiple centers of power and weapons, nor can the rule of law prevail as long as there are those who believe they can resort to force instead of the institutions of justice.
With the implementation of President Trump’s plan, and coinciding with any Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the need arises for a clear and binding mechanism to hand over all types of weapons, regardless of their factional or familial affiliations, to a Palestinian national committee. This committee would oversee and regulate the process, ensuring the protection of society and preventing further bloodshed.
The blood of our people is not cheap, and the sanctity of Palestinian blood is far too precious to be a subject of dispute or revenge. Therefore, the monopolization of weapons and the elimination of familial, militia, and factional armament should not be viewed as targeting any particular group, but rather as a necessary step to protect everyone and prevent the recurrence of killings, retaliation, and chaos.
What is required today is one weapon, one law, and one authority governing everyone without discrimination or favoritism, while guaranteeing justice and accountability for anyone proven to be involved in killing or assault, far removed from the logic of collective revenge or vigilante justice.
Gaza needs a new phase in which human dignity is preserved, the rule of law is respected, chaos and lawlessness are prevented, and the priority is to stop the bloodshed, protect society, and rebuild institutions.
May God have mercy on the Abu Warda family and all those who unjustly lost their lives. May God protect our people, spare Gaza and its inhabitants further bloodshed and fighting, and make the coming phase the beginning of restoring security, stability, and the rule of law.
