With the participation of the General Union of Palestinian Journalists in Britain, Cairo celebrates the film “The Voice of Hind Rajab” and its award for Best Arab Film of 2026.
In a distinguished cultural and artistic evening, the Egyptian Film Society, headed by Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Samie, organized a ceremony to honor the film “The Voice of Hind Rajab” at the Hanager Hall in the Cairo Opera House, following its winning the top prize for Best Arab Film in Egyptian Cinema for 2026.
The ceremony was presented by Dr. Alaa Al-Mashharawi, editor-in-chief of Al-Mashreq News, and the award was received by the acclaimed Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania, who presented a cinematic work that tells the story of the martyred child Hind Rajab, in an artistic treatment that garnered the appreciation of critics and members of the Society.
During her speech at the ceremony, Ben Hania said that “Hind Rajab’s voice was a cry that awakened the global human conscience and drew attention to the tragedies suffered by civilians, especially children, women, and the elderly, in Gaza.” She added that, in her view, the film contributed to highlighting the Palestinian narrative and revealing the reality of what is happening on the ground, considering it an exposure of what she described as attempts to falsify reality and present a distorted picture of events.
The evening witnessed a notable attendance of Egyptian media, intellectual, and artistic figures, reflecting a broad interest in cinematic works. The gathering also embodied an atmosphere of cultural solidarity and rapprochement between the Egyptian and Palestinian peoples, emphasizing the importance of art as a means of expressing humanitarian issues and strengthening the values of brotherhood and shared destiny.
