*Sinjlawi at the JNS Conference in Jerusalem: It’s Time to Give Peace a Real Chance and Move Towards a New Reality in Gaza and the Region*
Palestinian activist and politician Samer Sinjlawi participated this morning in the JNS International Conference held in Jerusalem, in a session entitled “Gaza: What’s Next?”, alongside Dr. Jason Olson, a member of the Executive Board of the Peace Council. The session was moderated by journalist Steve Linde.
The JNS Conference is one of the most prominent American political and media conferences held in Israel. It is organized by a media network known for its close ties to conservative circles in the United States and influential figures within the Republican Party. This year’s conference saw wide participation from Israeli and American officials, diplomats, and prominent political and media figures.
The conference was opened by the US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee. Keynote addresses were delivered by Benjamin Netanyahu, Isaac Herzog, and Gideon Sa’ar, along with a number of prominent figures from the American political elite. The conference was attended by a large number of diplomats, researchers, and journalists. During his remarks, Sinjlawi emphasized that the region is facing a new political reality, and that US President Donald Trump’s plan currently represents the only serious political framework for bringing about real change in Gaza. He stressed that it is in the interest of both Palestinians and Israelis to approach this opportunity realistically and work to develop it in a way that achieves security, dignity, and prosperity for all the peoples of the region.
Sinjlawi stated, “The current situation in Gaza, where nearly two million Palestinians live, and where hundreds of thousands still endure dire humanitarian conditions after the war, is unacceptable. The most urgent step today is to allow the Gaza Administrative Committee to enter Gaza, as this is the first step towards restoring civilian rule and initiating a gradual process of disarmament and ending the rule of armed factions.”
He added that disarming Hamas or any other armed organization cannot be achieved overnight or imposed from the outside by force alone. He emphasized that this process must be gradual and led by the Palestinians themselves within a political vision that guarantees security and stability and paves the way for reconstruction and a return to normalcy. Al-Sinjlawi also stressed that the current opportunity should not be limited to Gaza alone, but could become an entry point for a broader regional arrangement that achieves peace and strengthens Israel’s integration into the region, while simultaneously paving the way for a final and just settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
He concluded his remarks by saying, “President Trump has played a pivotal role in war and peace in the Middle East during the past period. If the war is nearing its end, the time has come to give peace a real chance and to work seriously towards a different future for the peoples of the region.”
Al-Sinjlawi’s intervention garnered significant attention from the audience, and the session witnessed extensive discussion about the future of Gaza, the prospects for reconstruction, and the possibility of transitioning from the war phase to a new phase based on stability, regional cooperation, and sustainable peace.
